My artifacts demonstrating this standard (What?)
Module 1 - Reflection on what you learned from viewing and discussing the example. React to what you saw/read. Here are some suggestions to get you started: What did you like? Are you doing similar things? How would what you saw/read fit into your classroom, or how would you change what you saw to improve it? What would you do?
After reviewing the k classroom project, I realized that we do not utilize technology very well in the majority of our classrooms. We need to improve the rigor and relevance of our curriculum to meet the needs of our digital natives. My question is how do we incorporte all of these great technology projects while still focusing on the PSSAs. Drill and practice starts to take over when we worry about our scores. I know that students engaged in great learning that is meaningful to them is the way to go, but how do we make sure that what is tested is covered?

Module 2 - Reflection on what features you observed used in the examples that would be valuable in your classroom? Reference examples you used and include them as artifacts in your ePortfolio under the appropriate NETS teacher standard. Link to the wikis that serve as examples for you. Although I do not have classroom, I found several of the examples started me thinking about how we could get students or teachers collaborating with people from around the world. The one realization I had while viewing the wikis was how I have not expanded my mind enough in the use of technology. I have been fighting the use of it because of my own frustration level.
My son is in third grade. The sample of the 2nd and 3rd grade wiki allowing people from all over the world to enter their classroom would really be engaging to him. It fits into many of the NETS Standards; Technology Operations and Concepts, Creativity and Innovation, Digital Citizenship, Communication and Collaboration.
The history wikis would really engage students in a relevant way. Many times history is a very hard subject for students to enjoy. The two examples of history wikis involved all of the NETS standards.
The reading suggestions wiki would be great for students to use within our literacy grant requirements.
Module 2 - Collaboration Reflections using Google Docs - specifically the Google Form.
The activity involving the collaboration tool, Google Docs, fits into this standard because it helps teachers plan and design their learning environment supported by technology. Unfortunately, this activity was very frustrating for me. I sometimes feel that if anything with technology can be done wrong, I will do it. I did not take the right survey to begin with, I took the orientation survey twice. Then Google continued to tell me there was a server error and would not let me into the document. After everything did work right, it was interesting to see how the information was displayed and how easy it would be to use something like that form to get information I am looking for from the teachers.
The activities in this module helped me realize that I need to continually be learning about technology and force myself out of my comfort zone and try new things with technology.
My Future Learning Goals related to this standard (Now What?)
I will:
continue to take more technology courses to enhance my own knowledge of technology.
start open discussions with my teachers about thier use of technology and how it can be enhanced.
change my current practice of many paper tasks and try to change how I do them using technology.
